Affordable, Professional BGA Inspection

Ball Grid Array (BGA) devices are now commonplace, fitted for one or more of three reasons:
  1. Compression for reasons of board space or signal integrity
  2. Availability of IC function from the silicon house
  3. Security - avoiding reverse engineering
Many manufacturers have suffered the pain of process development in fitting BGAs, often through a trial-and-error approach. The problem now facing these same engineers is in re-doing this work for a new lead-free process.

Until the advent of the Flexia range of products inspectors and process engineers had the option of costly add-on viewers from non-optical companies or even more cost of X-Ray. Flexia BGA has changed all of this; reducing the time to develop a stable process and cutting costs.

Optilia Instruments is an optics company based in Sweden, they do not do anything else and are therefore specialists in the field of optical technology and it shows in the quality of image and ease of use.

Based upon the Flexia video microscope, Flexia BGA is a complete system that allows fast, flexible, high quality inspection of the underneath of a BGA and, with fingertip control, the ability to focus on an individual sphere deep inside the grid-array.

As well as viewing the BGA Optilia's Picsara software will enable you to capture images, store them in a database, annotate the images and even make calibrated, precision measurements for process control, sub-contract auditing and training.

All of this at a cost in the reach of the smallest manufacturer.
